A 71-year-old passenger from Bergenfield was jailed after New Milford police said she slashed an Uber driver with a box cutter. Suicidal Man Hospitalized After Walking Into Route 46 Traffic: Responders
A suicidal man was hospitalized after responders said he deliberately walked into Route 46 traffic in Little Falls early Monday afternoon. The 33-year-old man, who they said spoke only Spanish, was struck near the Browertown Road exit -- apparently after some type of domestic incident -- shortly before 1 p.m. May 6. He was taken to St. Joseph's University Medical Center in Paterson with serious bodily injuries. Little Falls police interviewed witnesses, notified the Passaic County Prosecutor's Office and were seeking area surveillance and cellphone video.

Trapped Construction Worker Dies In NJ Trench Tragedy: Police
A construction worker was killed after he was trapped in a large hole in Kenilworth on the morning of Monday, May 6, authorities said. Around 9 a.m., the construction workers were attempting to install a storm drain in the back of the business on Monroe Avenue using an excavator when the man became trapped, Kenilworth police said. First responders attempted life saving measures but the worker, who has not been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene. The Occupational Health and Safety Administration said it is investigating.

First responders in Hunterdon County had a cow on Saturday, May 4. Literally. A cow was rescued after being trapped in the mud, the Whitehouse Rescue Squad in Readington said on Facebook. Driver Injured When Truck Overturns On Route 80:

A truck overturned on Route 80 in Warren County on the evening of Friday, May 3, authorities said. At 10:30 p.m., a Dodge truck was traveling westbound on Route 80 in Knowlton Township when it lost directional control and overturned, Jeffrey Lebron, a spokesman for the New Jersey State Police said. The driver sustained minor injuries and was transported to an area hospital, Lebron said. The crash remains under investigation, Lebron said.

A truck fire closed two lanes on Route 80 early Monday morning in Morris County, May 6, authorities said. A New Jersey State Police trooper has died suddenly, the department said. Trooper II Marcellus E. Bethea, who worked in Troop D at the Moorestown station, died during training, Colonel Patrick J. An early-morning crash on Route 287 sent one person to the hospital, police said A Toyota and Subaru collided on the northbound side of the highway around 4 a.m. on Saturday, May 4, causing the Toyota to erupt in flames near milepost 26 in Bernards Township, New Jersey State Police Sgt.
