RYE, N.Y. Fordham University will honor Ryes Ann Mara, wife of the late New York Giants owner and Fordham alumnus Wellington Mara, with the Walsh Award at the Fordham Football Dinner on Friday, April 27.
Dan C. Somma, captain of Fordhams 1965 football team, will receive the Mara Family Award, named in honor of Wellington Mara, who graduated from the university in 1937.
The Walsh Award is named for William D. Walsh, a 1951 Fordham graduate whose name adorns the Walsh Athletic Training Center and the Walsh Family Library at Fordhams Rose Hill campus.
Ann Mara has attended hundreds of Giants games in the past five decades, including the Giants 21-17 victory over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLVI in February.
The dinner will be held at the Jumeirah Essex House in Manhattan. with a cocktail hour at 6:30 p.m. followed by dinner and an awards ceremony at 7:30 p.m.
