Police spent hours searching for a burglar who cut himself during one three break-in attempts, including one that was interrupted by a homeowner who chased the bandit from his garage.
Members of the Bergen County Police K-9 unit joined River Vale and Montvale police in the search, which began around 6:45 p.m. Police literally stumbled on the homeowner during the search.
At least one of the break-in attempts was successful, according to a law enforcement officer with knowledge of the incident. Among the evidence are footprints police found on East Grand Avenue in Montvale.
