Parker and Murphy were running for the chance to represent the Democratic ticket in the election for the county legislator's District 7, which represents Rye, Mamaroneck, Larchmont, New Rochelle and parts of Harrison. The election was too close to call Wednesday, with only 44 of 55 districts reporting. By Thursday morning, the county Board of Elections reported results from all districts. Parker won with 1,089 votes, or 51 percent, and Murphy had 1,067, or 49 percent.

Parker will go on to face Republican John Verni of New Rochelle in the Nov. 5 election. The two are running to fill the seat left open by Democratic Legislator Judy Myers, who is not seeking re-election.
