Members of the Port Chester Police Department were called to 140 Midland Ave., about 10 p.m., Monday, Dec. 1, responding to a report of a man brandishing a handgun inside Edo’s Restaurant. When they arrived, officers encountered a crowd of people in the parking lot adjacent to the restaurant.
A vacationing Texas police officer was able to provide village police with a description of a suspect, according to Port Chester Police Chief Richard Conway. Acting on this information, police officers approached a male fitting the suspect’s description exiting the rear door of Edo’s, where he was arrested without incident, Conway said.
During a search, police recovered a .38-caliber handgun in the suspect’s waistband and a loaded magazine in his rear pocket, according to police.
Timothy Clancy, 29, of Rye was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a class C felony; and second-degree menacing, a misdemeanor.
Clancy was being held at Port Chester police headquarters on Tuesday pending a court arraignment.
Clancy's weapon was the 23rd illegal handgun recovered in Port Chester this year, according to Conway.
