Police in Port Chester are reminding the public to lock up their doors at night following a rash of reported larcenies inside of unlocked vehicles in the area.

The Port Chester Police Department issued an alert to local residents recently after there were numerous vehicles that were entered and rummaged by opportunistic schemers in the Upper Street and High School area.

Investigators said that most of the vehicles are believed to have been unlocked at the time of the thefts.

“Please lock your car doors,” police said, noting that any valuables or key fobs should be removed from the vehicle overnight to decrease the likelihood of theft. Any suspicious activity can be reported to the Port Chester Police Department by calling (914) 939-1000.
