Kenneth Edward Washburne, 92, Of Rye Brook; Worked At Chicago Pneumatic

RYE, N.Y. -- Kenneth Edward Washburne, 92, of Rye Brook, died at his home on Sunday, Feb. 1.

Washburne was born on May 21, 1922 in White Plains to the late Rutherford B. and Edith Austin Washburne. After graduating from White Plains High School in 1939, he proudly served as a tech sergeant in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1946 in the Ordnance Ammunition 690 Order Company. He was part of the European Campaign located in England and France.

Before retiring, Washburne was employed for 47 years at the Chicago Pneumatic Tool Company in New York City, which changed to the Chicago Premade Credit Corp. He started as an order typist and retired as a vice president.

Washburne was dedicated to his family, church and many historical organizations.

He is survived by his spouse John S. Provino, many nieces and nephews, and many extended family and friends. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Irving, and sisters Jessie, Lois and Jean.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the charity of one's choice.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 7 in the First United Methodist Church, 59 East Putnam Ave. in Greenwich. Interment is private.
