Carmela Manette Romanello, Rye Brook Resident, 89

RYE, N.Y. -- Carmela Manette Romanello, a resident of Rye Brook, died on Sunday, Feb. 8. She was 89.

She was born Oct. 22, 1925, in White Plains to Marino and Lucrezia Catalina Manette. She was raised and educated in White Plains, graduating from White Plains High School in 1943. 

She was a homemaker and a member of the Rye Brook Seniors.

She was married to Joseph Romanello, and they raised their family in Port Chester.  

Romanello loved to cook Sunday dinner for her family and anyone else who happened to drop by. She loved to bake and made the best cookies and cakes around. She loved having card games, loved going to the casino and going on trips with the seniors. She loved a good bargain and always knew where to find the best deals in town.

Romanello is survived by her son, Daniel J. Romanello, Sr. of Rye Brook; her daughters Susan and her husband, Michael Caputo, Sr., of Port Chester, and Jane and her husband Robert Romagnoli of Norwalk, sisters Lucrecia Manette and Marion McGowan both of White Plains, grandchildren Kristan Connolly and her husband James, Danny Romanello, Jr., Judiann Romanello and Michael Caputo, Jr.

Her husband died in 1999 and she also was predeceased by her brother, Anthony Manette and sister Barbara Magaletti.

Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, at Craft Memorial Home, 40 Leicester St,, Port Chester. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 12, at Holy Rosary Church, Don Bosco Place, Port Chester. Entombment will follow at Saint Mary's Cemetery, Rye Brook.
