Iran Colon, 31, an officer based at the Taconic Correctional Facility in Bedford Hills has pleaded guilty to promoting prison contraband and criminal sexual act, both felonies, after being arrested in his Staten Island home earlier this year.

Colon was one of three officers - including Garth Trail, 61, and Melissa Hill, 43, who were arrested for their roles in three separate incidents - including alleged rape - involving inmates earlier this year.

In May, Colon, who served as a guard, was arraigned on a 19-count indictment and was charged with seven counts of official misconduct, five counts of third-degree rape, four counts of criminal sexual act and three counts of first-degree promoting prison contraband, all felonies. His illicit activities at the correctional facility spanned from May 1 through Sept. 27 last year.

Colon was suspended without pay on May 2. He remains free on bail and is scheduled to appear in court for sentencing on Feb. 27 next year.

Trail, a former head cook at the Taconic Correctional Facility, is facing a charge of criminal sexual act after stemming from an incident with an inmate on Sept. 27 last year in the kitchen area of the jail. Trail previously resigned his position on Sept. 30 last year.

Hill, a former corrections officer, has been charged with two counts of official misconduct after engaging in a romantic relationship with an inmate from Nov. 19 last year to Jan. 30 this year while employed at Sing Sing Correctional Facility. She resigned from her position on April 16.
