RYE, N.Y. — Expect colorful hearts and lips -- with messages inside -- along with assorted chocolate goodies at Blue Tulip Chocolates where Valentine's Day ranks among one of the store's busiest days of the year.

"We love Valentine's Day," said owner Diane A. Holland. "It gives us a chance to create a lot of colorful hearts and lips."

As for what's selling so far? Hand painted hearts. New this year: Hearts with personal messages enclosed inside.

"This is a good idea for those of you looking to propose on Valentine's Day!" she said. "It's as intimate as a gift can be."

Also proving popular at the year and a half old store: New winter flavors, among them honey cardamom anad salted maple toffee. (FYI: There are new flavors every week -- and always, samples. "We want feedback," says Holland.)

"Salted caramel is very popular, as well as our salted vanilla, ganache toffee, hazelnut crunch and coffee caramel," she added. The choices, however, go on and no doubt you'll find it hard to pick just one.

Her advice on what to buy come Feb. 14? "Most people like an assortment of chocolates that are hand decorated with Valentine designs," she explained. "An assortment is nice when you include hearts and lips. It is definitely a holiday to have fun."
