Snow Storm Causes Minor Power Outages in Rye

RYE, N.Y. -- The City of Rye may not have gotten the worst of Saturday's nor'easter, but 231 residents still have no power, including the high School and middle school.

Although Saturday's freak snow storm didn't cause any major damage, the high school and middle school had no electricity Monday morning. Power has been restored, but the schools still have no heat, said Edward J. Shine, school superintendent.

"We hope that we'll have heat later today," Shine said.

The City of Rye Police Department received calls over the weekend for spotty outages and downed wires, but no roads had to be closed.

Currently, 55,507 of 348,198 Con Edison customers remain without power. Since the storm began Saturday, 118,000 customers have experienced power outages, according to the Con Edison website.

To report a downed wire, power outage and to check service restoration, customers can call 1-800-75-CONED (1-800-752-6633), or visit its website. When reporting an outage, have your Con Edison account number available, if possible, and report whether your neighbors have also lost power.
