According to the VDOT site, traffic was being diverted to Patrick Henry Drive as of 9:30 a.m. The roadway was closed at Castle and Thorne roads in Seven Corners. UPDATE: Utility Problem. The state Department of Transportation (NJDOT) said the Route 71 drawbridge over the Shark River had a mechanical failure on Friday, Mar. 1 that caused "significant damage to the machinery of the North Bridge leaf." Structural evaluation and drawbridge engineering teams said the bridge is safe for vehicles traveling between Belmar and Avon-by-the-Sea. Manville Man In His 30s Dies In Route 22 Crash A man in his 30s died in a crash on Route 22 in Somerset County Wednesday, authorities said. Bound Brook police responded to the eastbound side of the roadway following multiple 911 calls reporting a crash between Vosseller and Mountain avenues around 11:20 a.m., Deputy Chief Kevin Rivenbark said. Route 6 Reopens After Head-On Crash Click here for an updated story: Three Injured In Route 6 Head-On Crash Involving Car, SUV, Box Truck A stretch of Route 6 near the Northern Westchester/Putnam border has reopened Friday morning following a head-on crash with multiple injuries reported. The closure was between Mahopac Avenue in Somers and Windsor Road in Yorktown following the 7:20 a.m. crash. Eastbound traffic was diverted to Route 6N, westbound traffic used Mahopac Avenue to Route 202/35 during the closure of about an hour-and-a-half. This continues to be a developing story. Tragic Mianus Bridge Collapse Along I-95 Marks 35th Anniversary On this day in 1983, a part of the Mianus River Bridge collapsed.  Three people were killed and three others were seriously injured.  At about 1:30 a.m., on June 28, 1983, a 100-foot span of Interstate 95 in Greenwich collapsed into the Mianus River in one of the most infamous American bridge disasters of the 20th century.  A car and two tractor-trailers careened over the edge of I-95. The death toll could have been significantly higher if the collapse occurred during rush hour, officials said. Update: Northbound Rt. 17 Remains Closed After Crash In Upper Saddle River UPPER SADDLE RIVER, N.J. -- (UPDATE) A box truck slammed into a utility pole on northbound Route 17 in Upper Saddle River early Saturday night, igniting a chain reaction that kept the highway closed for hours. The pole snapped in half, downing wires across the highway -- which fell onto a tour bus and Jeep in the southbound lanes. No serious injuries were immediately reported in the crash near Lake Street, which also involved a tractor-trailer jack-knifing. Traffic remained detoured at Allendale Avenue past 10:30 p.m., more than 5½ hours after the incident.
