Putnam County To Participate In Statewide Stop-dwi Holiday Season Crackdown The Putnam County Sheriff's Office will be taking part in a statewide STOP-DWI holiday season crackdown enforcement effort. The initiative, which runs from Thursday, Dec. 17 to Friday, Jan. 1, 2021, will focus on impaired drivers, said the Sheriff's Office. Joining the sheriff's office will be the Town of Carmel Police and the Kent Police Department, as well as the New York State Police. In an effort to crack down on impaired drivers, the Putnam County Sheriff's Office will be increasing enforcement efforts through sobriety checkpoints starting Friday, Feb. 1 through 4 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 4. Officials encourage those attending Super Bowl events to choose a designated driver or make plans to ensure a safe ride home.
