Fairfax, DC Women Among 16 Drug Offenders Granted Clemency By Biden
Sixteen nonviolent drug offenders were granted clemency by President Joe Biden, including two with ties to Virginia and one from Washington DC.
Katrina Polk, 54, pleaded guilty to a nonviolent drug offense at 18 years old. She served her sentence and completed the terms of her release. She her release, Polk has earned her PhD in public policy and administration and advocates for the elderly, according to the White House.

Traffic will be tied up in parts of DC on Thursday night as President Joe Biden provides his third "State Of The Union Address," officials are cautioning.
US Capitol Police issued an alert advising that these roads will be closed throughout the day on March 7:

Westchester County Executive George Latimer has officially announced his intention to launch a Congressional Democratic primary challenge for New York's 16th District seat.
Latimer, age 70, announced his campaign in a video posted to social media on Wednesday morning, Dec. 6, in which he said he is "ready to deliver" for constituents within the 16th district.
The 16th district is made up of the southern part of Westchester, including the suburban cities of White Plains, Mount Vernon, Yonkers, New Rochelle, and Rye, and a small portion of the northern Bronx.

Of the more than 2,400 Americans killed in the attack on Pearl Harbor exactly 81 years ago, at least one was a native of Delaware County.
Michael Savinski, a 23-year-old Seaman First Class from Chester, was stationed aboard the famous USS Arizona in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii on the day the Japanese Empire launched a surprise attack, according to federal war records.
The Arizona, coincidentally a Pennsylvania-class battleship, was sunk after a Japanese bomb landed on its munitions storage room, causing an explosion and killing 1,177 sailors, the National Parks Service says.

If former President Donald Trump decides to face off with President Joe Biden for an election rematch in 2024, the race could be close in New York, according to new polling.
In a hypothetical matchup between the two, voters were asked who they would support if the presidential election were held today.
Biden, a Democrat, narrowly leads Trump, a Republican, by a margin of five points, 42 to 37 percent, the SurveyUSA poll found.

Biden Pardons 6,500 Convicted Of Simple Pot Possession, Calls For Review Of Federal Law
President Joe Biden granted mass pardons to an estimated 6,500 people convicted federally of simple marijuana possession and urged all of the nation’s governors to do the same.
“There are thousands of people who were previously convicted of simple possession who may be denied employment, housing, or educational opportunities as a result,” Biden said during a video announcement Thursday afternoon, Oct. 6. “My pardon will remove this burden.”
