'Crucial' Financial Literacy Programs Aim To Help Low-Income Families In Capital Region, Beyond
Leaders in Albany are seeking to help New Yorkers better manage their money. The New York Department of State has awarded a total of $1.1 million in grant funding to 11 community organizations to establish financial literacy programs. The programs, open to individuals at or below 200 percent of the federal poverty guidelines, will offer one-on-one coaching with financial professionals as well as education on budgeting and money management. Journalist Josh Kruger Knew His Suspected Killer, Philadelphia Police Say
Philadelphia police have obtained an arrest warrant for a suspect in the killing of journalist and activist Josh Kruger. Robert Davis, 19, is wanted for murder and related offenses, PPD Lieutenant Hamilton Marshmond said during a press conference on Friday, Oct. 6. He is considered armed and dangerous by authorities. Connecticut's minimum wage is set to increase to $13 soon, as the state progresses toward a $15 minimum wage. Beginning Sunday, Aug. 1, the minimum wage will increase from $12 per hour to $13 per hour. The legislation was signed into law by Gov.
