2 Guilty Of 2020 Stabbing In Springfield; Both Awaiting Trial For Home Invasion: DA Two men with lengthy criminal histories were convicted this week of stabbing a man in 2020 during a fight in Springfield, officials said.  Carlos Cuba, 33, of West Springfield, and Khair Abdul-Raheem, 34, of East Longmeadow, were found guilty of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon on Monday, Aug. 14, the Hampden County District Attorney announced Thursday. Abdul-Raheem was also found guilty of breaking and entering a vehicle in the daytime.  The crime-causing duo was accused of stabbing a 22-year-old on July 26, 2020. Teen Shooting Arrest: 15-Year-Old Charged In Springfield Attack Police in Hampden County have charged a 15-year-old boy with shooting an 18-year-old and putting him in the hospital with critical injuries on Monday, May 22.  Springfield police responded to a Shotspotter activation near the intersection of Acorn and Sycamore streets just before 3:30 p.m. Officers did not find a victim, but they noted three cars and two homes had bullet holes in them.  Soon after, an 18-year-old man with a gunshot wound was dropped off at Mercy Medical Center, where he was later taken to Baystate Medical Center for trauma treatment, authorities said. Dog Bites Arresting Officers In Baltimore: Report Police shot a dog that bit two Baltimore officers while trying to make an arrest over the weekend, authorities say.  The officers were responding to a domestic incident on the 500 block Mount Holly Street in southwest Baltimore around 8 p.m., according to officials. One officer was bitten in the hand and received treatment at the scene while the other was taken to Mercy Medical Center for a bite on his leg, officials tell Daily Voice. The dog was transported to be treated at a nearby animal hospital. Investigators are still looking into this incident, police say.

On Thursday, Feb. 18, the Massachusetts Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development recorded a “WARN” report from Mercy Hospital, Inc., the former owners of Providence Behavioral Health Hospital. Western Mass Nurses To Protest 'Disrespect' Of Rights During Covid-19 Pandemic Nurses are slated to protest working conditions during the COVID-19 pandemic at Mercy Medical Center on Monday, Aug. 24. Organized by the Massachusetts Nurses Association, protest participants say that Mercy Medical’s owner, Trinity Health, has failed to “respect the rights of nurses, listen to their concerns and support and protect them during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic."  The protest will take place on the sidewalk in front of Mercy Medical Center on Carew Street in Springfield, 4-5 p.m. Protest participants are expected to wear masks and practice social distancing.
