A Virginia man tried bringing a handgun loaded with 15 bullets onto a flight at Norfolk International Airport over Memorial Day Weekend, authorities said. The Dumfries man's gun was caught as he entered the security checkpoint, TSA spokeswoman Lisa Farbstein said. The X-ray unit alerted on the carry-on bag, which required a closer inspection. A woman and her dog were injured when two others broke away from their owner and attacked Monday, April 4, authorities said. The Waterford Township was walking her Australian cattle dog near Gardens and Camila avenues when the two dogs nearby broke loose, local police said. Firefighters Knock Down South Media House Blaze
Several people were hospitalized after a fire broke out in a South Media home Thursday morning, authorities said. Firefighters responded to the 600 Block of Markham Street to find that the blaze had spread to the second floor and left a person trapped, according to Garden City Fire Company. Fire crews were able to knock down the bulk of the fire while local police freed the trapped person, authorities said.
