The DMV region is bracing for another round of wintry weather that could blanket the area with snow as storms roll in. Winter weather advisories have been issued throughout the area, beginning at around 4 a.m. through 7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 19, as several inches of snow are expected to accumulate in some areas, with upwards of four inches in some DC suburbs. New Forecast: Increased Snowfall Totals Expected, Arctic Temps To Follow Northeast Storm
Newly-released forecast maps show parts of the region could see up to six inches of snow in the end-of-week storm. Intermittent snow is expected to begin between 4 and 7 a.m. Friday, Jan. 19, with the heaviest amounts falling in the afternoon, the National Weather Service said. Snow will fall at about 0.5 inches per hour and will taper by the evening, with temps in the upper 20s and low 30s, the NWS said. Separate storms accompanied by heavy rain and strong wind gusts will make the final weekend of April a wet mess. According to the National Weather Service, the heaviest rain from the first round of storms should wrap up by around midday Saturday, April 29 after dumping about an inch of precipitation to most of the region. The first projected snowfall totals have been released for a storm system headed to the region in the second half of the weekend. The system is on track for Sunday, Dec. 11, according to the National Weather Service.
