Van Wagenen, Brinkman Hat Tricks Send Rye to Win

RYE, N.Y. -- Annie Van Wagenen had a natural hat trick -- the first three goals of the game -- leading Rye to a 7-0 win over visiting Briarcliff in a field hockey game, Monday.Emma Brinkman also had a hat trick and Abby Regan scored as Rye gave coach Emily Fitzgerald a nice birthday present with the performance.“The girls played well today in that we had some good passing connections and all 21 girls contributed to the win,” Fitzgerald said. “We are starting to gel and play together. Our team goal is to build and improve on each game."

“We have 11 games from now until Oct. 25 so the girls need to be physically, as well as mentally tough. It is going to be a busy October, but one we are looking forward to,” she added.Katie Killip, Claire O'Callaghan, Tori Virtue, Alex Bennett and Maddie Bianchi had assists. Goalie Lacey Collins made one save.
