Rye Student Athletes Make College Choices

RYE, N.Y. -- Several Rye High School athletes took the next step in their academic and athletic careers when they signed letters of intent at a ceremony Thursday.

Football player Neil Parrello will be attending St. Lawrence University. Football player Andrew Aquilino will attend Gettysburg College. Football player James Dugan will attend Washington and Lee University. Sailing team member Mary Robertson will attend the U.S. Naval Academy. Lacrosse player Scarlett Sulliman will attend Fairfield University. Swimmer Melissa Fulenwider will attend Princeton University. Swimmer Katie Konopka will attend the University of Rochester.

Principal Patricia Taylor and Athletic Director Rob Castagna congratulated the students on their choices and successes.

"I can't tell you how proud I am of all of them," Taylor said. "They've been able to juggle a highly competitive academic program while remaining active participants in sports. I'm happy that college coaches have recognized their talents and success."
