RYE, N.Y. The student-athletes who unveiled their college choices Monday are just a small representation of an outstanding senior class, Rye athletic director Rob Castagna said.
"This is a noteworthy group," he said. "The level of leadership that this class has shown is outstanding. What they bring through community service to their leadership skills in school is extremely impressive."
Six seniors unveiled their college selections at a letter-signing ceremony in the Rye High School Conference Room:
Coco Darelius, a diving standout, will attend the University of Maryland-Baltimore County.
Girls basketball standout Grace Leishman will go to the California Institute of Technology.
Maddie Kinker will attend Middlebury College and play lacrosse. Middlebury was a semifinalist in the NCAA Division III girls lacrosse championships.
Aaron Matthias is going to Ithaca and will continue with track and field.
Taylor Love will go to Bowdoin and also run track.
Allison Mackay will attend Bates College and run track.
Peter Wittwer is bound for Washington and Lee University and is undecided on his sport.
