RYE, N.Y. Summer youth sports camps, featuring a skateboarding ramp camp, golf clinic and multi-sports camps sponsored by the Rye Recreation Department, are open for registration and running through late August.
Expert instructors will be on hand next week to teach young skateboarders skills and techniques under the supervision of the Rye Recreation Department for the final week of the camp for the summer. Campers will learn new skills and tricks while experiencing Rye Recreation Skate Parks ramps, jumps and rails, which provide a challenge for all levels of skateboarders, in one hour of structured lessons with one half hour of free skate.
Camp will be held Monday-Thursday, August 15-18 from 4-5:30 p.m. The fees are $ 80 for residents and $105 for non-residents. Helmets and elbow and knee pads are required along with a signed waiver. MULTI-SPORT CAMP Youngsters from kindergarten through eighth grade will learn a variety of sports, Aug. 22-25. Campers will learn 15 different sports from around the world with the U.S. Sports Institute, receiving technical instruction and game situations.
Campers will receive a t-shirt and certificate.
SPORTS SQUIRTS CAMP Children ages 3-5 are introduced to baseball, lacrosse, basketball and soccer and also enjoy playing Finding Nemo, Sponge Bob Square Pants and Shrek. The camp runs from Aug. 22-25 from 4:30- 5:30 p.m. Fee: $85 resident; $110 non-resident.
GOLF CLINIC Children entering kindergarten through eighth grade will train under Total Golf Adventures August 29-31 from 9 a.m. to noon, learning swing fundamentals, rules and golf etiquette while using technologically advanced, safe training golf balls along with junior clubs.
