Rye Meets Red Hook in State Girls Lacrosse Regional

KINGSTON, N.Y. — Rye stormed its way to the Section 1 girls lacrosse Class C title, and now the Garnets are focused on adding another title.

The Garnets will play two-time Section 9 champions Red Hook on Thursday at 3:30 p.m. at Dietz Stadium in a New York State Public High School Athletic Association girls lacrosse regional semifinal.

The winner advances to the regional final against the Section 2 champion at a date, site and time to be determined.

Rye won its first sectional girls lacrosse title in six years with a 12-11 victory over Byram Hills. The Garnets are led by Annie Van Wagenen, Emma Brinkman, Tori Virtue and goalie Maddie Kinker.

Red Hook moved into state play with an 11-7 victory over John S. Burke Catholic in the Section 9 title game. Caitlin Swanson had a hat trick for Red Hook (11-5) in the final.
