RYE, N.Y. -- The Rye High football team rolled out the welcome mat for longtime rival Harrison Saturday morning, but by the time the game was over, the Huskies weren't feeling much like welcomed guests, suffering a 42-12 drubbing.
With the temperature feeling more like mid-August than September, the Garnets improved to 2-0 with an impressive, and dominating, performance on both sides of the ball.
Rye, up 35-0 midway through the third, tied the all-time series between the two teams for the first time since 1974. Saturday's win - Rye's 14th in the last 15 meetings between the rivals - put the series at 42-42-3.
Rye quarterback TJ Lavelle tossed three touchdown passes, junior RB Will Tepedino had 115 yards and a pair of TDs rushing, and Brett Egan had a score in the fourth quarter.
