Rye Almanac: Recreation Department

Damiano Recreation Center/Recreation Park, 281 Midland Avenue, 914-967-2535 The Rye Recreation Department supervises several athletic fields and the Damiano Rec Center in the community as well as Oakland Beach. Fields are made available on a rental reservation system. Sanctioned youth leagues or Rye Recreation department programs will have priority use on fields. Programs are always being added so please refer to the Recreation Newsletter that is distributed 3 times a year. Core programs include softball for men or women, men’s basketball, yoga and karate. Daily fees are charged and proof of residency is required. Permits offer a substantial discount if you will be playing regularly. Youth sport leagues are operated by independent volunteer programs. Rye Recreation does facilitate their programs and provides contact and general information. All league contacts located under “useful links” and are listed in the Recreation Newsletter found on the town’s website at www.ryeny.gov. Recreation facilities may be reserved at the Rye Recreation department beginning in January of each year. Contact the recreation office for reservation and fee information. One must be a Rye resident in order to book this facility. Oakland Beach is operated by the Town of Rye.
