As wind, rain and darkness descended upon Purchase College, where the Port Chester Rams hosted the Tigers, Mamaroneck ultimately won, 5-3. The Tigers face John Jay-East Fishkill on Saturday in Arlington for the Class AA title game. The winner advances to the state tournament.

Mamaroneck, the third seed, was outshot throughout the game by Port Chester, which was seeded second in the playoffs. The Rams also appeared to attract more vocal fans to the game.

The tension was palpable as the first 15-minute overtime period was winding down. Three minutes into the second overtime period, the rain picked up and the field lights turned on. Port Chester had a shot that deflected off the top of the net with 6:50 left, while Mamaroneck missed shots at 3:50 and 2:50 left in the second overtime.

Mamaroneck scored first in the penalty kick phase of the game thanks to senior Nelson Barrios. Port Chester missed its first try. The next four goals made by the Tigers came from senior Yeison Banegas, sophomore Alex Alma, senior Thomas Orgielewicz and senior Jack Green. Port Chester made its next three tries to maintain the drama, but it was too little, too late.

The win brings Mamaroneck's record to 14-2-3. The loss dropped Port Chester's season record to 15-3-1.
