RYE BROOK, N.Y Philadelphia's Adrian Leanza won the Pro Squash Tour's Buffalo Wild Wings Open at Club@800 Squash & Fitness in Rye Brook on Sunday, topping 16-year-old Mason Ripka of New York City.
Leanza, a former top player at Brown University who currently teaches squash in Philadelphia, dominated early play before Ripka recovered. Leanza made a comeback of his own after being down 2-1 in games to win the match 3-2 with the scores 11-2, 7-11, 5-11, 11-9 and 14-12.
"It doesn't get closer than what we saw today," said Pro Squash Tour Commissioner Joe McManus. "It's interesting to watch Mason play. I tell juniors who compete on our tour that they will gain experience with us. Our tour will make them tougher because the pros do things that they don't see on the junior circuit."
Players from across the world compete on the Pro Squash Tour for points and prize money. PST's top eight players are invited to an end-of-season tournament to compete for the PST World Championship. For results of earlier rounds and dates of upcoming tournaments, visit the Pro Squash Tour website.
