Coveleigh Club Girls Win Second County Swim Relay

RYE, N.Y. -- One night after finishing tied for first place and not coming away with a trophy, the Coveleigh Club 10-and-under girls’ relay team did walk away with the hardware Wednesday.

Maggie Scala, Molly Bugniazet, Danielle Harrington and Elena Perez-Segnini won the 200-yard freestyle relay in the 86th annual Westchester County Swimming Championships at Playland Pool. The meet concludes Thursday, beginning 4 p.m.

The Coveleigh quartet tied with Westchester Country Club for first in the 200 medley relay Tuesday. Westchester Country Club was given the trophy because it had three nine-year-olds. Meet director Paul McClintock said a trophy would be ordered immediately for Coveleigh.

Scala, Bugniazet, Harrington and Perez-Segnini finished in a time of 2:11.29 to overcome Greenburgh Swim Team, which clocked in at 2:12.53. Because the event had timed heats, Coveleigh Club coach Adam King wanted his girls to win their heat, which they did.

“The girls had an amazing finish (Tuesday),” King said. “They came in today, put their heart into it and swam beautifully. Each of the girls had their best times.”
