The event, held at Rye High School, included a skills clinic, an alumni game and a boys varsity game between the Rye Garnets and Harrison Huskies.

While Rye lost the game by a point, a Harrison parent booster cut a $500 check for the scholarship fund named in Ice's memory.

Also, Rye basketball coach John Aguilar said proceeds from the event would go toward that fund, intended for a senior player on the team each year.

More than 65 children, budding boy and girl athletes in third through eighth grades, took part in the two-hour clinic.

High school coaches from Rye, Port Chester and Somers, a former NBA All-Star and college coach, and Rye High basketball alumni ran the clinic.

Over 30 former Rye basketball players participated in the alumni game.

Ice was a 2007 graduate of Rye, who died in February 2012, when he was hit by a subway train while walking on the tracks of the Spring Street station.

The 22-year-old had recently graduated from the University of Richmond and was working as a financial analyst.
