At a special meeting on Tuesday, the Board appointed Louis Cuglietto - who served as principal at the John F. Kennedy Magnet School in Port Chester for 15 years - as the interim principal, replacing the retiring George Albano.

During his tenure in Port Chester, the elementary school was the recipient of a National Blue Ribbon Award based on student performance and was recognized for the school’s Response to Intervention program.

Cuglietto most recently served as an interim Supervisor of School Safety and Facilities for SWBOCES. He has provided professional development training and safety planning consultations for districts throughout Westchester, including several in Tuckahoe.

The Board noted that “after thoughtful consideration, it was determined that an interim principal was the best option for the William E. Cottle School at this time. The Tuckahoe School District will conduct a thorough search process int he winter of 2018 to secure a permanent elementary school principal for the 2018-19 school year.”

“I believe Cuglietto’s extensive background in education and successful track record as an elementary principal make him a very good fit for Cottle at this time,” Superintendent Carl Albano stated. “Furthermore, his familiarity with the Tuckahoe schools will enable him to hit the ground running and continue to build on the success of our academic and enrichment programs.”
