WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. - A tentative three-year agreement has been reached between Transport Workers Union Local 100 and First Mile Square bus amid threats of a driver’s strike on Monday.
Union officials from Transport Workers Union Local 100 announced on Thursday that school bus drivers would go on strike beginning on Monday if they couldn’t reach an agreement on a new contract with their employer, First Mile Square.
On Friday, it was announced that an agreement has been reached, reportedly with a 3 percent pay raise, guaranteed 25-hour work week and one additional paid sick day per year. Local 100 represents approximately 600 bus drivers, monitors and mechanics, who had been working without a contract for months.
First Mile Square has bus routes in Yonkers, Mount Vernon, New Rochelle and Mamaroneck.
