PORT CHESTER, N.Y. - As temperatures continue to rise, and schools across the area begin to be let out, state Sen. George Latimer announced Wednesday the start of the 2015 “Summer Reading at New York Libraries" program in partnership with libraries across the district.

The program's goal is to provide reading and educational opportunities for students at community libraries while school is out, according to a press release. Participating children receive reading lists and engage in educational activities at their local libraries.

“During the summer months, we need to keep the love of learning alive in our children,” said Latimer, who is the ranking member of the Senate Education Committee, in a press release. “Linking them to our libraries during the summer months will keep them engaged, with the added benefit of children making libraries a part of their routine throughout the year.”
