Its a long weekend for high school students, but finals are around the corner and, for some, college entrance exams. Five friends, all juniors at Rye High School, sat on the grass in front of City Hall Friday, enjoying the warm weather and planning their weekend.
Im having a firepit at my house tonight, said Kim French, 17."It's the first of the season."
Kim and a few of her friends will be sitting around the fire talking and eating snacks.
"And drinking...water and soda," said Gregoire Petsy, 16.
Some of them have already started summer jobs and have to work over the weekend. Soon they'll be taking the SATs and studying for tests as the school year winds down, but getting together Friday night is one thing they dont want to miss.
Its a nice thing to do when nobody wants to go out and spend money, said Kim. You just bond with your friends."
