Rye Students Named To All-State, County Music Ensembles

RYE, N.Y. -- The Rye School District announced that 13 students from elementary to high school were named to all-county and all-state music ensembles.

Yuika Abe (grade 11, soprano), James Ham (grade 11, bass) and Daniel Keller (grade 12, bass) were selected to the all-state mixed chorus.

Jici Wang (grade 11, flute) was selected to the all-state band.

Nabil Azim (grade 11, violin), Will Hammer (grade 11, violin) and Su Lynn Kok (grade 10, violin) were chosen for the all-state orchestra.

Anders Jensen, (grade 8, trumpet), Miteki Ochi (grade 8, violin) and Esther Yu (grade 8 cello) were selected to the intermediate all-county orchestra.

Alex Mayo-Smith (grade 8, trombone) was selected to the intermediate all-county band.

Elizabeth Fink (grade 5, Milton School, bass) and Sean Yu (grade 4, Osborn School, cello) were chosen for the elementary all-county orchestra.

The All?State and All?County Music Festivals are presented by the Westchester County School Music Association (WCSMA), a unit of the New York State School Music Association and the National Association for Music Educators. Students must audition, and upon being selected to the ensembles, spend months rehearsing with their groups in preparation for the festival concerts.

"All of these students have put in a great deal of work under the leadership of their dedicated music instructors," the district said in a statement. "Congratulations to the students and teachers."
