Osborn families contributed items such as blankets, undergarments, toiletries, diapers and gift cards to a Sandy Donation Drive for the New York Foundling Organization. Osborn parents also brought donations to Long Beach and collected clothing and items for residents of the Rockaways/Breezy Point.

Several Rye Middle School staff members and families came together to volunteer for a “Rescue the Rockaways” effort, bringing a bus, pickup trucks and a U-Haul filled with donations. The district’s REACH committee also collected winter coats for children in the Rockaways.

At Midland School, Mrs. Rosado’s fourth grade class and Mr. Boyum's kindergarten class held a canned food and goods drive to help those with problems caused by Hurricane Sandy. Families of children in both classes were extremely generous in donating an abundance of nonperishable food items, which were later brought to Stew Leonards in Yonkers where they were matched and distributed.
