Rye Students Collecting Donations To Help Homeless

RYE, N.Y. – Resurrection School eighth-graders in Rye need clothing, shoes and toiletries to make “midnight runs” into New York City to distribute donations to the homeless.

On Oct. 26 and Nov. 16, students will put together bag lunches and organize the donations to travel to New York City with parents and teachers to donate at five shelters, as well as spend time connecting with the homeless men and women. The Resurrection students’ efforts are in support of the Midnight Run organization .

The students are asking for donations of the following lightly used items by Oct. 19:

• Blue jeans or dark work pants

• Thermal or long sleeve shirts

• Dark sweatshirts

• Sneakers

• Warm coats and jackets

• Backpacks, blankets or sleeping bags

There will be collection bins set up in the Resurrection Grammar School cafeteria and the middle school lobby. The Resurrection School is at 946 Boston Post Road, Rye.
