The society offers numerous free events, college tours, member-only resources and publications, participation in programs offered by educational partners, and online forums, and it also operates as a liaison for many scholarships.

“It’s up to you to take advantage of the information,” Denis said.

He has been enrolled at Rye Country Day School since kindergarten and is taking a hefty course load – three Advanced Placement courses and one honors course. In addition, Denis is a member of the school’s Political Forum and Ping Pong Club, serves as co-chair of Students of Color Mentoring and is on the varsity soccer and track teams.

“I guess I’m just really pleased to have the opportunity, because Rye Country Day is a really fantastic school,” Denis said. “I’m glad I’ve been able to have it open doors for me already.”

The society, formed in 2002, recognizes academic excellence among high school students. It encourages members of the organization to apply their unique talents, vision and potential for the betterment of themselves and the world. Denis is taking these principles to heart in thinking about future endeavors.

“I kind of want to major in business, but have a background in science, so I can create my own business using scientific technologies to help people in developing countries and people who require it,” he said.
