ALBANY, N.Y. Four Sound Shore students recently visited Assemblyman George Latimer in Albany as part of a program sponsored by the League of Women Voters.
The four were Mamaroneck High School Senior Sam Schneider of Larchmont, Blind Brook High School Junior Lara Cohen, and Rye Neck High School sophomores Annabel Gutterman and Luke Murphy, both from Mamaroneck. They were selected by the Larchmont-Mamaroneck and Rye-Rye Brook-Port Chester League of Women Voters to participate in the Students Inside Albany program.
The annual statewide event is designed to "immerse students in the process by which public policy is proposed, enacted and changed in New York State and educate them as to how they can influence and affect this process."
The four-day outing brought 54 students from across the state to Albany and featured demonstrations and presentations by Assembly members and others.
The four Sound Shore students got to meet with Assemblyman George Latimer during a session, where they reviewed the procedures and agenda.
