RYE, N.Y. -- Rye resident and School of the Holy Child junior and varsity basketball standout Shannon O'Connor has been selected as a participant of the annual New England Prep School Athletic Conference (NEPSAC) All-Star Game, according to a press release from the school.
O'Connor was one of 84 high school basketball players named to participate in the game and is the first Holy Child basketball player to receive this honor, the statement said.
The game, which brings together some of the best girls basketball players in New England, will be Sunday, March 4 and will be hosted by Nobels and Greenough School in Dedham, Mass.
"It is wonderful that Shannon's hard work and success during the season had been recognized," Holy Child Director of Athletics John Pizzi said in the statement. "She worked really hard to improve her speed, strength and shooting, which has paid off tremendously."
According to the press release, O'Connor is averaging around 2.47 blocks per game, 2.76 steals per game and 8.3 points per game while leading the Gryphon girls basketball team to a 15-6 record.
