RYE, N.Y. - Students from Resurrection School in Rye received a special treat on Monday as they posed for pictures with the NFL Lombardi Trophy won by the New York Giants in the Super Bowl earlier this year.
Resurrection Principal Harold Nielsen said the visit was arranged by the parents of current Resurrection students who are "members of the Giant family".
"It was a really fun day, the kids had a ball," Nielsen said.
Nielsen added that members of the family called the school and asked Nielsen if he would be interested in putting the trophy on display. The family also brought with them a copy of the championship ring and even made up T-shirts with the Giants and Resurrection logos for students and teachers to take home.
"We have a lot of sports fans in our school and it's nice that they got a chance to see something up close and personal that not a lot of other people get a chance to see," Nielsen said.
