RYE, N.Y. -- The Rye City School District will welcome 13 new teachers in 2014, who The Daily Voice will feature leading up to the opening of school Thursday, Sept. 4.
Cara Lipari joins Osborn School as library media specialist.
Lipari has worked in public and school libraries since 2011, most recently as a children’s librarian at Valley Cottage Library. She had student-teaching experience in the Nyack Middle School Library and Valley Cottage ElementarySchool Library.
Earlier in her career, Lipari was a library marketing coordinator for Random House, Inc., where she planned library events, maintained a library services website, and produced written resources.
She holds a bachelor of arts degree from the University of California and a master of science degree from Long Island University, Palmer School of Library and Information Science.
Sean Moughty joins Rye High School as a social studies teacher.
Moughty brings to Rye a six‐year background in teaching social studies courses including global history and geography, U.S. history and government, participation in government, economics, and advanced placement world history.
He most recently worked at the Leadership and Public Service High School in New York City where he also advised the history club and taught during an after‐school program and summer program.
Moughty holds a bachelor of arts degree from SUNY Oneonta and master of science degree from the American College of Education.
Gabriela Murphy is a Rye High School Spanish teacher.
Murphy most recently taught Spanish at Edgemont Junior/Senior High School, prior to which she served as a Spanish and English as a second language teacher at the NYC High School for Architecture, Engineering and Construction Industries in the Bronx.
She has also worked as a tutor. Murphy holds a bachelor of business administration degree from Universidad Centro Occidental “Lisandro Alvarado” in Venezuela, and a master of arts degree from Manhattanville College.
