RYE, N.Y. -- Each year, Junior League of Westchester on the Sound awards a local high school senior a scholarship created in the memory of Margaret Manley.
The Margaret Manley Community Service Scholarship is intended to encourage and honor students’ voluntary participation in community affairs and to demonstrate the effectiveness of trained volunteers. This year, one scholarship in the amount of $4,000 is available to be awarded. The application can be viewed and downloaded at this website .
To be eligible, applicants must be high school seniors who:
- Reside and attend high school in either Port Chester, Rye, Rye Brook, Harrison, Mamaroneck, Larchmont, or New Rochelle.
- Graduate in the winter of 2015 or the spring of 2016.
- Will enroll in a full-time course of study during the 2016–17 school year at an accredited two- or four-year college or university.
This is not a need-based scholarship. Grade point is not a determining factor. All information must be filled out completely on the application form and must be received by the JLWOS office on or before Monday, April 18. Finalists may be requested to attend an interview with the Scholarship Committee. The committee expects to announce the scholarship recipient by the end of May. The scholarship recipient will be requested to attend an award presentation at the JLWOS annual dinner on Tuesday, June 14.
