RYE, N.Y. – Caitlin Hogan, a Chappaqua resident and a senior at School of the Holy Child in Rye was named a semifinalist by the National Merit Scholarship Corp. based on her high scores on the preliminary SAT.

Hogan is among about 16,000 high school students to be named a semifinalist, representing less than one percent of high school seniors nationwide. She entered Holy Child as a fifth-grader and has excelled ever since.

“I have seen Caitlin grow into a thoughtful, confident, engaged, and driven young woman,” said Kim Calhoun, director of the arts and Caitlin’s faculty adviser at School of the Holy Child, in a written statement. “I am certain that wherever the road takes her, whatever path she chooses, she will devote her time and energy to something bigger than herself, and make the world a little better than she found it.”

As a student at Holy Child, Hogan has consistently been on the honor roll; honed her athletic skills; participated in service trips to New Orleans; organized the Holy Child team for the annual Polar Plunge in support of the Special Olympics; and is a regular cast member in Holy Child’s winter musical, including last season's production of "Annie." She is also a contributor to the school newspaper and literary magazine, and is involved with running the school’s Gryphon Film Festival.
