Candidates Emerge in Blind Brook Board of Ed Race

RYE BROOK, N.Y. – The candidate field for the 2012-13 Blind Brook Board of Education race fully emerged as the submission deadline for candidacy came and went on Monday. Blind Brook Superintendent of Schools William Stark announced on Monday that three candidates will run for the two open positions.

Out of the two current board members whose seats are up, only Nancy Barr will seek re-election. Board member Steven Kaplan announced in early February that he would not pursue a third term. The two challengers are former board of education member and Rye Brook Trustee Richard Buzin and Citizen’s Financial Advisory Committee member Daniel Savitt.

In her address to members of the public, Barr expressed her desire to pursue the future challenges that face the district.

“I’m excited to officially announce my candidacy,” Barr said. “As proud as I am of the accomplishments of the last three years, I recognize the next three years will be even more challenging.”
