Blind Brook, Rye High Schools Rank Among New York State's Best

RYE, N.Y. -- Blind Brook and Rye High Schools have been ranked among the best in New York State by U.S. News & World Report in rankings released Tuesday morning.

Blind Brook was the highest ranked high school in all of Westchester County, and came in as the ninth best in the state.

Blind Brook's student population of 450 exceeded the state average in all of the surveys major metrics, which included: College readiness, mathematics proficiency and English proficiency. The school also boasts an Advanced Placement participation rate of 87 percent. 

Rye High School came in just a few spots behind Blind Brook at No. 11. Rye also exceeded the state average in all major metrics, but was just percentage points behind Blind Brook in nearly all of them. 

Several other high schools in Westchester County were ranked in the top 50 in the state, including:

  • Hastings (No. 24)
  • Horace Greeley (No. 25)
  • Byram Hills (No. 27)
  • Edgemont (No. 29)
  • Briarcliff (No. 31)
  • Irvington (No. 32)
  • John Jay (No. 35)
  • Pleasantville (No. 36)
  • Rye Neck (No. 39)
  • Ardsley (No. 43)
  • Fox Lane (No. 46)
  • North Salem (No. 49)

The top ranked high school in New York was The High School of American Studies in the Bronx.
