She also has a large network of trusted Sotheby’s International Realty agents for referrals to other Westchester towns, and national and worldwide destinations. Below, she answers questions about her international clientele, and her recent trip to India and other worldwide travels.

Q: What intrigued you most about your recent trip to India?

A: So many things! I was fortunate that I could visit northern India with my entire family, along with two other Rye families, for 12 days over the past Christmas/New Year's holiday. In addition to my husband and three children, my mother and friend’s mother joined us, so we had three generations along on the trip. With the focus on history and culture, we learned so much about India's past, its architecture, and its history.

We started off in New Delhi and what really stood out were the crowds. It's just busy everywhere! The streets, roads, and bridges were filled with people walking and biking, commercial vehicles, rickshaws (tuk-tuks), and cows. We saw the Red Fort and Humayun's Tomb, which were spectacular, and celebrated Christmas Eve with a classic Indian banquet of 10 courses.

On Christmas Day we caught a flight to Udaipur, the summer home of royalty, maharajas, and aristocracy, and visited the beautiful palaces on Lake Pichola. We took a lovely boat trip around the lake, which was incredibly peaceful and serene, full of magnificent architecture and bird life; it was like a movie set. The City of Udaipur has its own palace, an architectural masterpiece with incredible tile and silver work.

After Udaipur, we took a coach ride to Jaipur, the red sandstone palace city. In addition to the palace complex, we also went on an elephant safari and visited some wonderful shops. At the textile store, they measured you, showed you a pattern, and then you picked your fabric. The next day the garment was delivered to the hotel. I bought a beautiful tunic in a mixture of oranges, reds, and browns with an elephant motif. I've worn it many times; it reminds me of my trip.

In Agra, we had two days to view the Taj Mahal. We went to see it both at sunrise and sunset, and it really is one of the wonders of the world.

Q: Where else have your lived and traveled internationally?

A: I was born in Dundee, Scotland and attended the University of St. Andrews. I've also lived in London and Munich. With all my travels for work, visiting friends, and leisure pursuits, I've been to every European country except for Portugal and Norway. In 1993, I arrived in America and married my husband, Ozgen Dogan, a native of Turkey. In the past five years alone, I've been to Machu Picchu in Peru and Kenya, as well as Austria, Switzerland, and Spain. My big trip in 2011 was to Antarctica. And, I regularly travel back to the UK and Turkey to visit family.

Q: What languages do you speak?

A: I speak fluent German and am conversational in French and Turkish.

Q: How have you built your international clientele?

A: My international clientele is based on referrals. I have many friends who are transplants and they refer their expat friends to me. They understand what I've gone through and what their friends are going through. My international clients like working with someone who's experienced the same relocation ups and downs, someone who's lived outside the states and has been a fish out of water. I can relate to that. So, I help ease their transition until they're ready to spread their own wings.
