Each Road Warrior commits to raising at least $3,000 to support the ride and most participate on team.  This year’s teams accounted for 85 percent of the record $1.65 million that was raised on the July ride.

Westport had two teams honored with Joy Ride, under captain Mitch Higgins, and Team Sherpa, led by captains Jean Desrosiers and Brett Jones.

The CT Challenge Bike Ride fuels programs that help cancer survivors live healthier, happier and longer lives.  The CT Challenge opened the Center for Survivorship last year in  Southport, and it  is the only standalone survivorship center in the country. It is an incubator for best practices that set the model for fitness, nutrition, community support and lifestyle programs nationwide.  CT Challenge programs impacted more than 54,000 cancer survivors last year.

Registration for the 2014 ride opened on Dec.  1.  The ride takes place July 25-26 at the Fairfield County Hunt Club in Westport.  Participants can ride 10-184 miles over one or two days and raise funds to support programs for cancer survivor.  Visit Bike.ctchallenge.org for more information.
