WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. - Devonshire, a historic estate set on 101 acres in Bedford Corners, has sold for $21.5 million, making it the highest single residential sale ever reported in Westchester County.

The estate was purchased by an international buyer after being on the market for five years, according to one of the listing agents J.B. Avery, of Houlihan Lawrence/Christie’s International Real Estate in Bedford. (Anthony Cutugno was also a listing agent for this property.)

Built in 1901, the Devonshire's Georgian Manor features amenities such as 21,000 square feet of interior space, including eight bedrooms and eight full and two partial bathrooms.

Additionally, there are numerous “collector’s garages,” ample equestrian stables and generous staff and guest outbuildings.

Devonshire was once home to some of America’s most prominent families. It was originally the country home of financier J. Borden Harriman and his wife, Florence, a socialite who later became the U.S. ambassador to Norway. Later residents included descendants of the Vanderbilt family, as well as members of a prominent European family.

The estate is surrounded by some of Westchester County's largest estates. Its expansive, park-like property makes it difficult to believe that Devonshire is just a quick 45-minute trip from New York City.
