RYE, N.Y. – The Rye Police Department is investigating three larcenies that occurred this week, two of which involved car break-ins.

The first incident occurred Sunday, June 3, when a resident of Martin Drive reported a bike stolen from the inside of an open garage.

Rye Police Commissioner William Connors said such incidents occur more often in the warmer months.

“We see a little spike in this activity when Playland opens,” Connors said.

Police received a call Thursday, June 7, reporting that the driver-side window of a car parked overnight on Norman Road had been smashed. An iPod was the only item missing from the car.

On Wednesday, June 6, police received a call that a car parked overnight on Overdale Road had been broken into. The victim reported prescriptions glasses and loose change missing.
