RYE, N.Y. – Students at Rye High School and Middle School returned to their schools at about 11:30 a.m. Tuesday after they had been evacuated earlier in the morning when the district received a bomb threat.

Those students were sent to Osborn and Midland elementary schools, Daily Voice has learned.

District officials sent parents an email Tuesday to let them know all students were safe.

"Due to an abundance of caution, all Middle and High School students have been evacuated to area Elementary Schools while the Police search and clear the building," Superintendent Frank Alvarez wrote. "Please do not attempt to pick up your child at this time. We will contact you later if we need you to do so. It is our hope that the children will be able to re-enter the building shortly."

Police were at the high school investigating.
